benjamin craven, urban ARTIST with a sourdough taste of Leeds — HAS got something to show in this city. These are our pages bringing a distinctly cultural VIEW of exciting cities.
Benjamin Craven, who is back from a recent stint in London’s design world, working with big names and now in Leeds on some city projects, takes us through his Leeds.
” So I completely understand the uncertainty at the moment, before lockdown, my project was near the Leeds Dock area, an underpass that I am sure many people pass by. I’d been very fortunate with a bunch of cool new projects that came up back in April but obviously everything has been put on hold for now or some of those projects will never happen?
I’m also actually painting another bus stop! WoooWooo!
I can also admit to liking lockdown at the minute, I like the pace everyone is going, it’s more relaxed and chilled despite the shit circumstances.”
BEING AN ARTIST IN LEEDS
” I was born in Leeds actually in,1993 haha! I was born and grew up in Leeds (headingley to be exact) – I did uni here then to work in London for a year or so then came back to start my own thing (what i’m doing now)! I’m here because because it’s my hometown, friends and family are here but mainly because I can do my own thing and work for myself (costs of living) – Its much easier to make a name for yourself up here than bigger cities, its the perfect place to get set up and build your name/brand. – I’m also here for the good food!”
ON MIND BOGGLING LEEDS TRADITIONS
Let’s just say lots of things are great but certainly not a fan of the Otley Run haha
